Overview
Anisha Kingra is an attorney who focuses her practice primarily on trademark and copyright law. Ms. Kingra received her JD from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. After graduating from law school, she worked as an assistant attorney general in the Criminal Appeals Division of the Office of the Illinois Attorney General in Chicago. In that role, she drafted dispositive motions for federal habeas petitions and drafted appellate briefs on criminal and quasi-criminal matters. Thereafter, Ms. Kingra served as a staff attorney at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Philadelphia, where she gained valuable insight into judicial decision-making processes. At the Court, Ms. Kingra analyzed complex legal issues and drafted bench memoranda on matters pertaining to federal appellate jurisdiction, civil procedure, and constitutional issues. In law school, Ms. Kingra served as a Managing Executive Editor for the Journal of Law and Social Policy and developed her oral advocacy skills by participating in the Miner Moot Court competition. She also worked as a research fellow where she researched the constitutionality of emergency injunctions issued in the aftermath of the COVD-19 pandemic, and the circumstances under which corporations may voluntarily comply with repealed regulations. Furthermore, Ms. Kingra enhanced her litigation skills by participating in the Federal Appellate Clinic, where she drafted an appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. She served as a judicial extern for Justice Mary L. Mikva of the Illinois Appellate Court. Ms. Kingra received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Her commitment to public service led her to join Teach For America, where she taught elementary school for two years in Detroit.
