Mark W. Croll

Overview

Mark W. Croll, in addition to his duties as Counsel to Leydig, Voit and Mayer, is a Senior Advisor to Delegate S. A., a Belgian company that provides IP administrative services to corporations and law firms.

He recently retired as the Vice President, Intellectual Property, of Illinois Tool Works Inc., a Fortune 200 company, where he was responsible for all IP related activities for the corporation, including identifying, capturing and enforcing rights in proprietary new technology, coordinating with various marketing groups on trademark and domain name registration and enforcement policy and proactively administering related licensing activities. Mark was responsible for managing all worldwide IP related litigation for the corporation, including the seminal case of Illinois Tool Works Inc. v Independent Ink, Inc., 547 US 28 (2006), decided by the Supreme Court of the United States involving the application of U.S. antitrust law to “tying” arrangements of patented products.

Prior to his employment at Illinois Tool Works, Mr. Croll had varying legal responsibilities in both corporate and private practice. He holds a J. D. degree from DePaul University College of Law and a B. S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell University.
